Honey-Glazed Salmon
Ingredients:
- 4 salmon fillets (about 150g/5 oz each, skin on or off as preferred)
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (about half a lemon)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- Fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional, for garnish)
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Marinade:
- In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tbsp of honey, 2 tbsp of soy sauce, 1 tbsp of fresh lemon juice, and 2 minced garlic cloves.
- Mix well until the honey dissolves completely.
2. Prepare the Salmon:
- Pat the 4 salmon fillets dry with a paper towel to ensure a good sear.
- Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of sea salt and 1/4 tsp of freshly cracked black pepper evenly over the fillets.
3. Heat the Pan:
- Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Allow the oil to heat until it shimmers.
4. Cook the Salmon:
- Place the salmon fillets in the pan, skin-side down if the skin is on. Sear for 3-4 minutes without moving, until the skin is crispy or the flesh has developed a golden crust.
- Flip the fillets gently with a spatula and sear the other side for 2-3 minutes.
5. Add the Glaze:
- Lower the heat to medium. Pour the honey-soy glaze mixture over the salmon in the pan.
- Use a spoon to baste the salmon with the glaze as it cooks. The sauce will thicken and caramelize slightly.
6. Finish Cooking:
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through (it should flake easily with a fork). Be careful not to overcook.
7. Garnish and Serve:
- Sprinkle the salmon fillets with 1 tsp of sesame seeds and fresh parsley, if desired.
- Serve immediately with the remaining glaze drizzled over the fillets.
Serving Tip:
Pair this honey-glazed salmon with steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or a light side salad for a complete meal.
