Fresh Mint Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 3-4 lemons)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1 cup ice cubes
- Optional garnish: lemon slices and mint sprigs
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Lemon Juice:
- Roll the lemons on a countertop to loosen the juice.
- Cut the lemons in half and use a juicer to extract 1/2 cup of lemon juice. Strain the juice to remove seeds and pulp, if desired.
2. Dissolve the Sugar:
- In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup granulated sugar with 1/4 cup water to make a simple syrup.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.
3. Blend the Mint (Optional):
- For an extra minty flavor, blend 1/2 cup of fresh mint leaves with 1 cup of cold water in a blender. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove solids.
4. Mix the Lemonade:
- In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the cooled simple syrup, 4 cups of cold water, and the strained mint water (if using).
- Stir well to combine.
5. Add Ice and Garnish:
- Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the lemonade over the ice.
- Garnish each glass with a lemon slice and a sprig of fresh mint for a decorative touch.
6. Serve:
- Serve immediately while cold and refreshing.
