Classic Chocolate Lava Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 170g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Butter and cocoa powder for ramekins

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). Grease ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder.
  2. Melt butter and dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. Stir until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until thick and pale.
  4. Fold the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Gently fold in the flour.
  5. Divide the batter among the prepared ramekins and bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
  6. Let cool for 1 minute, then invert onto plates.

Serving Suggestion:

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
